Some Good News About Me (Although Anthony Morris Will Be Furious)
by pale.emperor injust wanted to share with you some good news i'm really excited about.
i have been accepted for university to study psychology and counseling.
my goal is to become a counselor and, in time, to specialize on treating those who have left high control relationships/groups like we all did.. it'll take a few years before im qualified but studying in university has been a dream of mine since i was 12, which was systematically dashed to pieces by watchtower.. .

Are you a Christian Who Accepts Evolution?
by cofty inif you identify as a christian but you have accepted that the diversity of life - including humans - resulted from a process of biological evolution could you add your name please?.
just to be clear i am referring to the fact that our physical lineage could literally be traced back all the way to non-human species.. if you like maybe you could comment on why you see not conflict between evolution and your christian faith.. there is a tendency to conflate evolution with atheism.
it would be good to show that this is not the case..

I do see a conflict between having irrational beliefs such as in miracles and the resurrection of the dead and also a scientific approach which values evidence. If you do have the scientific approach, how can you then suspend it in the case of your chosen belief. It would be totally inconsistent.
I agree, but check out the Wikipedia page on "non-overlapping magisteria" (not to be confused with -- but as confusing as --"overlapping generations").

we have a laid off bethelite with an engineering degree!
by nowwhat? inthis guy have been at bethel for 25 years when he could have been making 75-100 thousand a year as an engineer.
so they kick him to the curb so they don't have to house him and his wife anymore.
they run into a problem at warwick and they ask him to come back for 3 weeks.

How Can a guy with a college degree be so blind and stupid?
A couple of thoughts on this based upon my experience.
First, half the people who graduate college should have never gone in the first place. During their time at school, they learn virtually nothing — not even how to be responsible adults — and develop no critical thinking skills whatsoever. For them, college was like High School Part II. They would have been better off going into the military.
Second, even if you are a top-notch engineering student, engineering programs do not require students to take courses that would help hone their critical thinking skills. You need to be really good at math, memorize a lot of stuff and be able to solve problems — but none of this really requires critical thinking.

This is clearly the message Jesus wants to get through to mankind in the very, very last days of the Last Days.

I would really like to read the thoughts of an evolutionist as they lie on their deathbed. . . . Their terrors. Their nightmares. Their fears.
My absolute worst deathbed fear would be that I wasted my life arguing over stupid shit with someone I don't even know on the internet.

I was in middle school (7th or 8th) grade, and I’m not sure whether it was a birthday or Christmas party or whatever, but since I wasn't allowed to participate, I was sent to the library to wait it out.
On the front desk of the school library, there was list of banned books/authors: Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain; Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger; Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury; and even The Bible.
Also listed was banned author Kurt Vonnegut (I don’t remember what book he was banned for).
Anyway, Vonnegut caught my eye, I went over to the fiction section and picked up the bright-orange colored book, Breakfast of Champions.
The book was an absolute trip. I had no idea that books this crazy even existed.
I kept reading Vonnegut from then on.
When I first woke up to the fact that I was in a cult, I wondered to myself, What do I really believe?
I thought, I think I believe in the same thing as Vonnegut, whatever that was.
I Googled Kurt Vonnegut, saw he was a Secular Humanist and thought, Yup, I think this is what I believe in.

Sorry, Simon. I read the article but I missed the part that said that people were hit and their family were hurt. My apologies. My reading comprehension was lacking there and my sarcasm button was working overtime.
I'm sorry, but I've read this article twice and am not seeing any mention of people being hit/injured in this incident.
Unless we now consider carts to be sentient beings since they can sing.
